Is FedEx Abnormally Slow?

I don’t send or receive a lot of FedEx shipments, so maybe this is normal:

From the 28th to the 3rd (inclusive), I’d expect there to be five working days (28-29, 1-3) and two stop days (30-31). Am I wrong about this? Is the 1st a stop day as well? Is the 29th? Six days from pickup at the vendor to leaving the sort center seems excessive to me, even given the time of year.

Even worse though is that the estimated delivery date is January 12th. I live in a major city about 10 hours away from Dallas. How the hell do they justify another nine days in transit? Hopefully the system is estimating on the very broad side of caution and it will arrive much sooner than that.

I am currently having the same problem with FedEx. They are shipping from MI to NC… and estimated delivery allows for about 6 or 7 days. Not that this is a huge amount of time, but I don’t get why UPS is so much faster. Also, the website shows today as the estimated delivery date but I haven’t received anything nor a tag on my door or in my mailbox indicating that they made any attempt at delivery. The last tracking update on the website shows departure from OH early yesterday morning.

On the one hand, I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one that thinks this is screwy. On the other hand, it’s a little dismaying.

I checked my status just now, and oh, this is rich. The estimated date of delivery has been removed, and the package was checked in at a sort station in Los Angeles(!) on the fourth. I live in New Mexico! Talk about inefficiency!

FedEx sucks. Period. I made an online order that was to be shipped from Los Angeles, CA and come to North Carolina. It sat in the Los Angeles sortation center for 4 days. Then appeared in Dallas, TX for 2 days, and now it is on day 3 in Atlanta, GA. All I have to say is next time, I will be using USPS!
